Optical Sensors for the
GV-1 & Throttle Jockey Governor

 Here's a close up look at my optical sensor installed.

This particular one is mounted on my Fury Extreme (07/02), the engine is an OS-91SXH and the fan is metal. Today (10/03) that sensor is driving a C-Spec.

I chose to paint the fan flat black with Cheveron Perfect Paint (polyurethane) all except for a small 3/8" strip which reflects the sensor light.

Above are photos of the Fury Extreme metal fan, top and bottom.

 The photo to the right gives you an idea of the distance between the sensor and the fan. This is an OS-46FXH and was installed on a Raptor 46. The sensitivity shows 97% but when it was that high I had around 18% background so I altered the distance between the fan and the sensor until I got around 91-92% and that gave me around 4-5% in the background.

Here's a closeup of the sensor and resistors to give you an idea of their size.

They easily fit in practically any heli from a 30 size on up through the gassers and glow 90's. The sensor in the photo is pre-assembled and ready for use. This gives you an idea of what it looks like once built.

I currently sell the kits to assemble the optical sensors. I include 2 optical sensors, 2-100 ohm resistors and 2-3.9K ohm resistors and a wiring diagram explaining how to assemble the circuit. It is quite easy to do, all you need to complete a sensor is a 3-conductor servo wire with connector plug to fit into the GV1 Governor or Throttle Jockey Governor, your soldering iron and some heat shrink tubing.
