I had the chance to fly a Fury Expert with Todd Bennett and Jason Krause down in San Antonio in the spring of 2002. I was very impressed with the helicopter.
Todd's Heli School uses Fury Experts with YS61STII Engines. After that weekend I knew I'd own one someday.
I planned on getting an Expert with an OS61WC but after I saw some Fury's fly with YS80s and OS91s, I realized that was the machine to own but I wasn't really too keene on the added expense of getting an Extreme in the air.
I stumbled across a great deal on a NIB Fury Extreme, $750 new in the box... not a bad deal. I figured what the heck, I already have a 60 and a 70 heli now, a 90 isn't that much bigger. I figure I can cut back from 30% nitro down to 15% or even 10% nitro and same some bucks or at least break even with the big block 91 fuel costs. I liked the idea of all that power. I think it will help my flying as it should be more forgiving when you need the power because of a bad manoveur you pulled that would bog a 60...
On the other hand, the added power must be wisely and safely used. I consider myself a safe pilot and mechanic. I know I have to respect this machine's power and fly it in a safe manner far enough away from other people and aircraft.
I'm flying it now with an OS 91 C-Spec and it is a beast and very smooth. I'm running an 8.18/1 gear ratio, 20% Magnum Custom Blend Heli Fuel with a Muscle Pipe 2. Blades are MAH 710DT and NHP105's on the tail. I just bought a second Extreme, lightly used but in great shape. It came with a sweet set of MAH 710's just like on my other Fury. The second Fury has an OS91C-Spec also but I've got the Cline Regulator and modified carb from OMI and a Hatori SB-15 with Shadel clamping. The heli also is the latest variation of the Fury, all titanium anodized parts, new frames, dual bearing TT, etc. It came with a lame canopy that will become the night flying canopy. I just ordered my glow wire light system this morning and already have a set of 680 MS night blades.
To be honest, I've found having two Fury Extremes to be a bit much to keep as far as repairs and fuel costs are concerned. I am considering selling my original Fury Extreme and replacing it with a Raptor 50V2 that I can beat on pretty hard and not worry about the high cost of repairs and fuel, besides you can only fly one at a time anyway.

I really haven't seen a good website where someone has documented their building of the Fury Extreme so I thought it would be fun to do.
